POSITION: Fitter / Welder

REPORTS TO: Production Foreman

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Fitting experience / ability to understand and interpret drawings
- Welding ticket / Level C or equivalent experience
- Fabricator Trade Qualification an asset
- Minimum 2 years experience working in heavy plate welding (minimum ½" plate thickness)
- Experience working in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred
- Forklift and overhead crane experience
- Competent English skills.
- To have an understanding of quality control procedures used during fabrication
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.

The Welder will be responsible for the following:

• Weld in all positions with Flux core

• Interpret simple blueprints and set up components for welding according to specifications

• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.

• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 2 years experience working in heavy plate welding (minimum ½" plate thickness)

• Forklift and overhead crane experience

• Welding ticket -- Level C or equivalent experience

• Experience working in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• Flexible individual with the ability to prioritize a changing workload

• Understanding of quality control procedures used during welding

• Able to meet tight deadlines in a semi repetitive, fast paced, fun and professional environment

• Ability to work independently and as a team, self-starter and energetic

• Competent English skills.

• Good understanding of WHMIS and safe work practices
